Continental Who’s Who among Community Leaders. Saundra is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Community Centers Inc., a Non-Profit WorkSource and Job Development center dedicated to empowering the community through high quality Education.
Community Centers Inc. prides itself on providing education, training, employment services and economic development to Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. For over thirty years, CCI has been committed to strengthening surrounding neighborhoods through nurturing partnerships and healthy economic growth.
Saundra oversees the provision of a vast array of services that help improve the quality of life for CCI’s clients. She supervises the delegation of job skills, training and placement as well as preparing the youth in the area for the real world and job readiness. Saundra ensures that CCI’s consistently evolving centers boast a welcoming environment capable of serving the changing needs of a diverse community.
In addition, Saundra is a professional educator with a California Teaching Credential and services as a Parent Educator and Teacher Adviser for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She is also one of the founding members of “Education Is A Civil Right,” an organization that was implemented to address the issues of failing students in the African American community. She has provided students with scholarships, created youth programs to help alleviate gang violence and unsafe activities, and initiated literacy programs for youth and adults. Alongside these roles in her community, Saundra is also a leader on Foster Care issues for the benefit of youth as well as helping to establish a diabetes and obesity program to resolve many of the health issues faced by youth and adults today.
Saundra’s tremendous impact in her community has received much praise and acclaim. She was honored as the “Democrat of the Year”, and the NAACP’s “Emerging Leader” in addition to awards and recognitions by the President of the United States, Congress, the Senate, the Assembly, Culver City and Los Angeles City Councils and School Boards.
Saundra’s experience with her own education has influenced her passion for education as well as her goals of reforming the system for the next generation. She earned a Masters Degree in Behavioral Science and Negotiation Conflict Management, a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as a degree in Early Childhood Education. She also holds Certificates from UCLA and The Los Angeles County Bar Association for Dispute Resolution and Negotiations and Contract Administration and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from American University for her extensive work and commitment to children and Education.
In the future, Saundra hopes to continue to make an impact on her community, as well as to influence the lives of many more children and adults in Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.
